Special Olympics USA Games Night

Led by Special Olympics USA Games Ambassador Breanna Stewart, the Seattle Storm partnered with Bank of America to showcase the upcoming 2018 Special Olympics USA Games, as the franchise welcomed Team Washington athletes to the June 19 game vs. the Las Vegas Aces.

Stewart, who invited fellow Special Olympics Ambassadors to the game, joined the Storm and the rest of KeyArena to recognize Special Olympics Team Washington Athletes during a special halftime ceremony. Over 50 USA Games Athletes and Ambassadors from various sports paraded out to center court, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. These athletes were joined in the arena by other Special Olympics Washington athletes from all over the state who wanted to help celebrate their hard work and accomplishments.

The 2018 Special Olympics USA Games are set for July 1-6 in Seattle and will feature a number of events, ceremonies and competitions in 14 individual and team sports. The Opening Ceremony on Sunday, July 1, at Husky Stadium kicked off the Games and featured the Parade of Athletes, the lighting of the Special Olympics cauldron and entertainment, including a 2018-member choir which will serve as the living backdrop for the show.

More than 4,000 athletes and coaches, along with tens of thousands of family members, volunteers and fans are expected at the 2018 USA Games. Over 240 athletes will represent Special Olympics Washington, making it the largest state delegation.
