For the first time in WNBA history the league chose a presenting partner, YouTube TV, for the league’s marquee event – the WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV. The partnership is a fantastic fit for many reasons, including the shared values of supporting gender equality in sports and the goal of empowering young girls to want to grow up to be professional athletes and live their dreams.
In celebration and furtherance of these values, YouTube TV, the WNBA and Seattle Storm collaborated to bring WNBA Legend Lisa Leslie to Seattle to surprise a local group of girls from the Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club with an unforgettable WNBA Finals experience.
On September 8, 2018, Lisa Leslie joined the girls at their basketball practice to help teach them some skills and talk about her journey, before taking them out to dinner at a nearby restaurant.
The next day, Lisa and the girls attended Game 2 of the WNBA Finals where they took a group on-court photo before watching the Seattle Storm defeat the Washington Mystics from the comfort of a private suite.
