Our commitment to the community goes well beyond the basketball arena. Each year, the Storm staff engages in several community service activities. Some individuals volunteer at basketball clinics, while others take time to plant trees. On multiple occasions during the year, we make it a point to close our office for a day and spend the time together working with a local nonprofit organization.
On Tuesday, December 10, the Storm Front Office volunteered at Wellspring Family Services, a nonprofit, multi-service agency serving low-income and vulnerable individuals, children and families in Seattle and King County. For more than 125 years, Wellspring Family Services has been a source of opportunity for children and families to win their resilience, triumph over trauma, and reach their full potential. Wellspring supports housing, resources, parenting and early childhood education to many in our community.
With help from Swedish Medical Center staff, the group sorted, restocked and organized the Teen Closet, Baby Boutique and Toy and Book Room. Volunteers also decorated the lobby and entry way for upcoming holiday festivities and tidied up the outside, picking up litter and leaves. The Storm and Swedish ended the day donating $5,000 to Wellspring Family Services.
