The Seattle Storm donated approximately 50 pairs of new and gently used athletic shoes to Cocoon House on July 11. Shoes are a necessity but also something that can spark joy, and Cocoon House was the perfect recipient to find new homes for the shoes.
Cocoon House is a non-profit that conducts outreach to, and provides short- and long-term housing for homeless and at-risk young people, including their children. Parents of teens can also find support for themselves and their families at Cocoon House so that young people do not become homeless.
The Cocoon House Outreach team works throughout the county providing emergency supplies, hygiene packs, food packs, and access to housing and local resources to young people ages 12-24. Meeting young people on the street, in the community, in schools, at partner agencies, or at the Cocoon House Outreach Center, the team works with each individual person to build trust and help them access the resources they need from a shower and laundry facilities to a safe place and transportation to an emergency shelter.
