Helping Our Neighbors

Les Schwab and the Storm made the assist this season to help provide special experiences for community groups. Les Schwab partnered with the Sarcoma Foundation, Birthday Dreams and Scoutreach. All groups received the opportunity to participate in the pregame Fan Tunnel to root on the Storm as they take the court, cheer from a catered suite provided by Les Schwab and take a photo on the court post-game to celebrate the exciting night.

On July 1, Les Schwab hosted the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation including three survivors and their families. The vision of the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation is that no one faces sarcoma alone. Sarcomas affect 3,000 or more families in the Pacific Northwest every year and this foundation looks to provide hope, education, and support to those affected by sarcoma living in the Northwest. Each year the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation invests a minimum of $50,000 into local sarcoma research.

On July 8, Les Schwab hosted an eight-year-old boy for his birthday through Birthday Dreams. Birthday Dreams is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing joy to homeless children with the gift of a birthday party. Last year, 1202 homeless children in the Puget Sound were celebrated on their birthday! There are still thousands of children who go uncelebrated on their special day. Birthday Dreams has the goal for every homeless child to have a birthday party.

On August 17, Les Schwab brought out Chief Seattle Council’s Scoutreach. Scoutreach gives special leadership and emphasis to urban and rural Scouting programs. Scoutreach is the Boy Scout of America’s commitment to making sure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background. This organization looks to recruit strong adult leaders and develop solid relationships with schools, churches, and other community organizations in urban and rural communities nationwide to ensure that culturally diverse youth have the opportunity to join the Scouting program.
