In the first year of partnership, the Seattle Storm and Symetra collaborated to provide a powerful educational session for 45 girls from the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue, Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Girls on the Run of Puget Sound, Treehouse and Youth Eastside Services on Thursday, August 29 at Crossroads Community Center. To begin the session, the girls engaged with a panel of women leaders in the community including Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best, Senator Rebecca Saldana and Manpreet Kaur. The girls participated in mindfulness activities including a canvas painting class and instructor-led yoga. Storm All-Star guard Sue Bird joined the girls in leadership and team building activities, answered questions and signed autographs for all participants. Each girl went home with their very own yoga mat and a new backpack for the upcoming school year.
